Credible ESG reporting, without the complexity
You may not be required to publish a full sustainability report, but larger customers, lenders and partners may still ask for ESG data. VSME is a practical, recognised way to respond without building a heavy reporting process.
Who this is for
- Small and medium-sized companies that want a structured starting point for ESG reporting
- Companies that need to answer ESG requests from customers, lenders or larger companies in their value chain
- Owners, suppliers and maritime businesses that want a credible ESG baseline they can reuse, improve and scale over time
A recognised ESG structure
VSME is a voluntary reporting standard that lets you build a credible ESG report without the heavy lifting. It uses data you likely already have, provides a clear reporting baseline, and lets you extend later without starting over. In the Metizoft ESG platform, we provide the templates, guidance and advisor support to help you get started, and scale when needed.
Developed by EFRAG and recommended by the European Commission, VSME gives you a recognised structure for voluntary ESG reporting. Although it comes from the EU, it can also be useful for companies outside Europe that need a practical way to answer ESG data requests.
How Metizoft supports VSME
Use VSME to build a practical ESG workflow with Metizoft ESG. Collect data, document sources and assumptions, calculate emissions, and reuse the same ESG data for customer requests, supplier requirements and future reporting.
- Start with the right structure
Use ready-made VSME templates and relevant ESG indicators instead of building the process from scratch. - Collect data more efficiently
Gather ESG input from across the organisation and import data from connected systems through API integrations. - Document the basis for your reporting
Keep track of sources, assumptions, assessments and methodology behind the data. - Calculate and present ESG data clearly
Use automated Scope emissions calculations, reporting views and management tools to make ESG data easier to review, verify and reuse. - Reuse the same ESG data
Use collected data for customer requests, supplier requirements and future reporting instead of starting again each time.
Choose the right VSME level
VSME is built in two modules, so you can start at the right level. The Basic module gives you a lighter ESG baseline. The Comprehensive module adds more detail for companies that receive broader ESG data requests or want to prepare for future requirements.
Not sure whether Basic or Comprehensive VSME is right for you? Book a demo and we’ll walk you through the options.
Basic module
- Fastest path to a credible ESG baseline
- Designed for small teams and limited reporting capacity
- Covers core topics relevant to most small businesses
Comprehensive module
- Adds more detail for answering broader ESG data requests
- Includes data points often requested by banks, larger customers or partners
- Suitable for companies preparing for more comprehensive reporting in the future
Metizoft provides templates for both modules.
