Accelerating energy savings at sea

Written by Metizoft | April 07, 2025
Metizoft and Susteni have formed a strategic partnership to establish Powersave, a company providing energy efficiency solutions for the maritime sector.

Powersave helps customers identify effective measures for reducing energy use and emissions through software solutions and engineering services. This benefits both the environment and customer profitability.

Originally developed by Susteni, Powersave began as a digital tool with accompanying analysis services aimed at energy savings and emissions reductions. With Metizoft joining as the majority shareholder, Powersave is now established as an independent company, significantly strengthened by capital, software expertise, and market access. This marks the beginning of a new growth phase, aiming to scale the solution in the global maritime market.

“Powersave holds expertise that is unique in this market. We believe strongly in the solutions Powersave will offer and are confident they will contribute to making the maritime industry both more efficient and more sustainable. This aligns closely with our ambitions at Metizoft, and we’re excited to build this company together with Susteni,” says Gry Cecilie Sydhagen, CEO of Metizoft.

“We’ve identified a significant potential to help shipping companies improve energy efficiency across their fleets. By establishing Powersave as an independent company, we’re bringing together the right expertise and technology to drive the maritime industry forward. Together with Metizoft, we now have the opportunity to strengthen our efforts and grow in the global market. We’re very pleased with this collaboration,” says Arild Hatløy, CEO of Susteni AS.

Powersave will benefit from the experience and networks of both Susteni and Metizoft but will operate as an independent and autonomous company. The company will be led by Jan Ove Kleppe, COO of Susteni, who will be responsible for building the business and its solutions in the years ahead.

“I look forward to developing Powersave into a leading company in maritime energy efficiency. This partnership gives us a unique opportunity to combine our technical expertise with a global network, and I’m highly motivated to help deliver solutions that make a difference — for the environment and for our customers’ profitability,” says Jan Ove Kleppe.

This collaboration brings a substantial capital injection, enabling continued investment in software development and organisational growth.

The collaboration between Powersave, Susteni and Metizoft strengthens the company’s ability to deliver integrated solutions and provide significant value to the maritime market in the years ahead.
